Introduction and presentation 

On 1^st October 2010 the activities relating to the “Before and Beyond Auschwitz” project, granted by the European Commission - Education, Audiovisual and Culture Executive Agency (EACEA), “Europe for Citizens Programme – Acion 4 – Active European Remembrance”, code 512119, whose ISREC (Istituto storico della Resistenza e dell’età contemporanea; Historical Institute of the Resistance) in Macerata is the official applicant, began. 
This work (translated wholly into English) is one of the two publishing venture of this BBA project. 
This publication contains the uncut version of ten pieces of writing and the abstracts of all the other ones that are going to appear in print by CLUEB in two collecting volumes, Paradigma lager. Vecchi e nuovi conflitti del mondo contemporaneo and Esclusione, identità e differenza. Riflessioni su diritti e alterità. These two books represent the results of the networking work of the Historical Institute of the Resistance in Macerata (ISREC) with other European institutions. The publication of the two books and the English abstract has been made possible thanks to social networks and the partner organizations advertising channels. Even more so promotion and dissemination of these works will be due to the influence of all the BBA project partners.

The referred above work in English will be downloadable free from the website of the Istituto Storico della Resistenza di Macerata - Osservatorio di genere (www.odg-isrec.com) and from the all project partners websites. 
Lastly a course of lectures and conventions will be directed to the presentation of the BBA project, the two volumes and this work at:

• University of Macerata (Università di Macerata), on 27^th January 2011 (Remembrance Day)
• University of Bangor, UK, on 23^th February 2011
• Universidad de Oviedo, ES, on 5^th April 2011
• University of Utrecht, NL, on 15^th April 2011

The activities will have to be officially closed by the 30^th of September 2011.
